Smoking can cause harmful effects on the endocrine system. For women smoking reduces the estrogen level in you body causing women that smoke to have menopause early. Smoking can also cause disruption of body fat and changes in hormonal regulation of body weight. You could also have an increased risk of many endocrine system diseases and more likely to get Type 2 Diabetes. Plus, if you get type 2 diabetes, it will be harder to manage. But worst of all you have an increased risk one of the deadliest forms of cancer.
Marijuana
In adults, marijuana causes temporary effects on the endocrine system but in younger people researchers think that it can cause long-term developmental problems. Marijuana causes a short-term drop in hormones that direct development and growth. It also messes with the balance of hormones that control the menstrual cycles for females. The sperm production in males also lowers because of marijuana which means less normal sperm cells.
Anabolic Steroids
These imitate some endocrine hormones like testosterone. They cause the pituitary gland to stop secreting LH(lutropin hormone) and FSH(follicle-stimulating hormone) which can cause temporary menstrual irregularities in woman and infertility in men.The only thing it does too the thyroid is cause it to stop secreting TSH(thyroid simulating hormone) but other than that it functions normal. There has not been a known case of diabetes caused by anabolic steroids abuse but they do imitate the symptoms.
